RFK's last train ride

NYT has a powerful slide show of photographs taken from the train that carried Bobby Kennedy's body from NYC to DC. Narrated by the photographer, Paul Fusco. "...and they saw hope pass by, in a train." Another reminder that the US needs to move on from the last 60 years.

(Hey Hillary, what month was that again?)

It has been years since I saw these. Still quite moving. The whole country followed the train's slow progress. It was delayed getting to DC. People waited patiently including a large black choir on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. They sang The Battle Hymn of the Republic as his casket passed. While the country waited, David Brinkley, the NBC announcer waited too and said nothing because there wasn't much to say. The silence was respectful. Times have changed. The film was 25 ISO, really slow, but gave beautiful results.
